Sunday Night Drinks: Some celebrations and a farewell
Report by Anne Smyth, Club President
We gathered after training for our Sunday Night Drinks on 15 February 2026 to celebrate achievements and say farewell to a long-standing club member.
Peter Sharman received a very well-deserved MSA ‘Unsung Hero’ award last year. This was in recognition of the hours he has spent at swim meets supporting Ann, helping out, and doing jobs that help the events run smoothly. Many would have seen the hours he has spent on the medal table at NSW and National events - always patient and with a smile on his face as he hands out medals. We are lucky to have him as part of our club.
Congratulations to Maria Castles, who was awarded the ‘Swimmer of the Month’. Maria has been attending training sessions and Endurance regularly and is working diligently on her stroke.
Well done to Jane Waddleton, who won the ‘Club card draw’ and received a free swimming card.
Elizabeth Merenda was presented with the ‘2025 Tuggeranong Swimmer of the Year’ award for all her outstanding achievements at the Fina Masters World Championships in Singapore last year.
…. and finally, we said ‘Farewell and thank you‘ to Caz Makin and her hubby, Scott. Tuggeranong Masters acknowledged the support and commitment Caz has given the club over 15+ years as she moves interstate …. but, we have not lost her yet, as she will continue in her roles of Publicity Officer and Website editor for the time being and will be second claiming for Tuggeranong at MSNSW meets for the foreseeable future and Nationals in Brisbane in April.
