Valiant Vikings visit Victorian State LC Championships

Report by Caz Makin, Publicity Officer

A couple of valiant Vikings visited the MSV State Long Course Championships held on Sunday, 7 April 2024 at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre.

There was the opportunity to race up to six individual events in this one-day meet, which proved to be great race practice for Liz Daly and Caz Makin.

Our Vikings ladies both swam in the 50, 100 and 200m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke events among tough competition, including the current 50 and 100m Freestyle world record holder from Powerpoints in the 55-59 age group for Caz! Caz also took on the 100m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly events and came away with a silver and two bronze placings.

Both swimmers were pleased with all their swims and had plenty of chat about pacing and race tactics along the way - it was a good day to share some tips and practice some race plans. Great preparation for MSNSW States the following weekend!
