We have several qualified Masters coaches who plan and coach our training sessions. The aim is to provide quality sessions catering for all levels of ability and interests – whether it is recreational, open water or competitive swimming. The current coaches are Anne Smyth (Coaching Director), Greg Gourley, Caroline Makin, Leisa Cass, Brenda Day, Tom Boyce and Katrina Burgess.

Normally training sessions are held at Lakeside Leisure Centre, 1 Anketell St, Greenway, ACT 2900 (map)

We currently have four routine training sessions each week as follows:

Tuesdays 19:15 – 20:15
Thursdays
09:15 – 10:15 and  19:15 – 20:15Lakeside Leisure Centre
Fridays 07:15 – 08:30 (Distance & Pace – uncoached)
Sundays 17:00 – 18:30

During summer, additional Sunday morning training sessions are often held in the 50m outdoor pool at the Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre, 1 Irving Street, Phillip, ACT 2606 (map). Timings will be advised to members via the club email list.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the session start time for stretching and a run down of the session from the coach.

The cost per training session is $5.00 by cash or the equivalent of $4.33 by pre-paid card*. Please sign the Attendance Book and mark method of payment at the pool and, either put money in pot, or punch your card.

* In lieu of paying by cash, swimmers are strongly encouraged to purchase 12 session cards at the discounted price of $4.33/session.  Payment of $52 can be made by two methods: preferably by direct credit to the Tuggeranong Masters Swimming bank account (bank details are located in the front of the ‘sign-in’ folder at the pool) or, alternatively, by cash to the Treasurer (Denise Druitt) at the pool. If you’ve made payment by online banking, please contact Denise, to assist her in identifying which deposits are for what! Cards that have been purchased will be left in an alphabetical index box at the pool for swimmers to collect.

Pool Discount

All Tuggeranong Masters Swimming members are entitled to a discounted pool entry at both Tuggeranong (Lakeside Leisure Centre) and Civic (Canberra Olympic) pools.

The club provides club membership cards which are available for collection at training sessions (ask your coaches at the pool about the cards if you have not already received one or contact the Club Registrar, Bill Eversham). Show these at the counter as you enter the pool.

By showing your Tuggeranong Masters Swimming ACT Membership Card at Tuggeranong pool you can purchase casual entries for $5.30 and 20 visit passes for $82.75, which is a substantial discount on the standard pool entry rates. If you have Senior’s Card, you may also be entitled to a further 10% discount. It is worthwhile showing your Masters Membership card at the front desk at any pool across Australia as you may receive a discount.
