Caroline Makin achieved her Two Million Metres on 16 June 2015 during a regular training session at Lakeside Leisure Centre, just over 2 years after recording her first million in May 2013.
Caroline said “I was very happy that I achieved my second million in almost 6 months less time than my first million and I am already well on my way to my third million – in fact after 4 months I am nearly 1/5th of the way to that target, which I hope to achieve in under 2 years. As our Club Captain, I try to encourage our members to experience a variety of Masters Swimming activities including swim meets, endurance swims, postal swims and the million metres award – there are so many different programs on offer through Masters Swimming Australia. Personally, I not only take part in lots of racing at NSW State and BPS Meets in and around Sydney as well as our local ACT Interclub meets here in Canberra, but I am also am an active swimmer in the Endurance 1000 Program and I am endeavouring to complete the entire program for the first time this year, although completing 5 x 800m Butterfly swims and the long distance Breaststroke and Backstroke swims I find very challenging!”
The Vorgee Million Metre Awards is a great way to motivate yourself to keep coming to the pool, so why not start recording yours now!
