The second ACT Interclub Meet for the year was held on Sunday, 29 July 2012 at CISAC on the northside of Canberra. There was a good attendance from the Vikings Masters as usual with eighteen swimmers but a slightly disappointing roll up by the Molongolo Water Dragons with seven swimmers.
The meet was obviously dominated by Vikings swimmers and there were some great performances all round. Vikings efforts of note were definitely:
- Marianne Tweedie who at her first meet did a tidy 6:07.57 for the 400m Freestyle;
- Jon McRae who at his first local meet also swam a 400m Freestyle and did so in 7:25.84;
- Nicolee Martin one of our newer members completed her 400m Freestyle in 6:19.76;
- Atsuko McGowan impressed all with her 200m Imdividual Medley in 2:57.92;
- Richard Flockart showed his Butterfly skills completing 100m in 1:25.72;
- Opal Eddy was at her consistent best with a 100m Backstoke effort in 3:13.11;
- Annette Britten tried something new with a 100m Breaststroke in a respectable 1:50.96;
- Luke McGowan was dynamic in his 50m Breaststroke finishing a speedy 38.89;
- Pam Munday pumped out her 50m Freestyle in a nice round 38.00 flat; and
- Greg Gourley finished his afternoon with a 32.76 50m Freestyle.
Well done to everyone who competed in such a friendly manner.
We hope everyone is getting ready for the next big meet which is our local Tuggeranong Challenge scheduled for Saturday 15 September. Get your entries in – it is a great meet where the fastest is not the winner but the one who can swim closest to their entry times. Ann Reid and Pam Munday have been recent winners.
See you in the water!
