Event report by Caroline Makin
As part of the Capital Summer January Fest, which is an annual triathlon weekend in Canberra, there was a swimming event in Lake Burley Griffin on the evening of Friday, 27 January 2012.
There were three distances on offer: 400m, 1.5km or 2.5km swim. Five Vikings took part in this event – Leisa Cass, Jeanette Droop and Caroline Makin all swam in the 1.5km and then Anne Smyth and Greg Gourley took to the lake for the 2.5km.

Jeanette Droop – 25:20 – 4th/8 Female, 8th/17 Overall
Leisa Cass – 26:48 – 5th/8 Female, 10th/17 Overall
2.5km Swim
Anne Smyth – 37:26 – 2nd/5 Female, 4th/13 Overall
Greg Gourley – 38:50 – 5th/8 Male, 7th/12 Overall
