Meet report from Anne Smyth
On a wet Sunday afternoon in November, a contingent of brave Vikings members fronted up to Queanbeyan 50m outdoor pool for the third ACT Interclub Duel Meet with Molonglo Water Dragons.
There were nine swimmers and a few cheerleaders and helpers too attending this local event on 14 November 2010. Light rain fell on the swimmers during the warm up, which by all accounts was quite pleasant whilst swimming!!!
The timekeepers braved the elements outside and a few races were run until the time keepers and starter could stand the rain now more and the contingent moved inside to the warmth of the indoor 25m pool! It was a nice low-key meet, giving everyone a chance to swim in race conditions.
Well done to Nerida Peljo who swam in her first competition!!
Luke McGowan was our sole male representative and sadly had no relay to swim in! Come on boys … where were you??!! …however, we will excuse Greg Gourley as he was there cheering and timekeeping, but did not compete, as he had already done a 9km swim that day!
Vikings team members competing on the day were Nerida Peljo, Asuko McGowan, Ann Reid, Gillian Sharp, Cecelia Key, Pam Munday, Anne Smyth, Leisa Cass and Luke McGowan.
