Six of our members (Merilyn Bassett, Jill Blomeley, Annette Britten, Brenda Day, Veronika Ferfolja and Anne Smyth) participated in the 24 Hour Mega Swim to raise money to assist MS sufferers which effects 18,000 predominately young, Australians.
Our swimmers were spread out in 5 of the 17 teams participating. The venue was the A.I.S. pool in Canberra and thanks to the help of Rotary, it was very well organised and great fun. The swim “kicked off” on Saturday 1 May at 12 noon thru to Sunday 2nd May at 12 noon.
This is an annual event so please give some thought to joining a “Vikings” team in 2011. It was heart warming to see swimmers with little swimming ability just “having a go” for MS.
More information about the event can be found on the 24 Hour Mega Swim website.
